Day 2 - Mumbai, India

More from my emails home during my trip to India…

I slept for 4 hours last night and still felt pretty good today. Jon and I eventually went out for breakfast and took a walk along the ocean. We got back to his place and I was just relaxing and fell asleep. Today it’s 39 degrees (C) and very humid. That’s over 100 degrees (F)! And tomorrow I’ll be at 30 degrees (F) up in the Ladakh area in the city of Leh. Jon opened up all of the windows in his apartment last night, wide open, and turned on his ceiling fans to get some air flowing through. So, it feels completely tropical.

So far nothing has shocked me, but there’s plenty of time for that. Jon lives in a pretty nice neighborhood, as neighborhoods go in Mumbai. Even to me it seems pretty nice and there are a lots of trees around his building and a view of the ocean. There’s dust on everything and my hands feel like they have a constant layer on them, but at least I expected that. Just feels nice and grimy with sweaty, swollen hands and feet. :)

We’re off on another flight tonight to Delhi and then leave for Leh at 6 am tomorrow. Good thing our marching orders are to rest our first 24 hours in Leh. I’m not sure I could do anything else anyway!

Below is an email response I got from a friend and gave me a good laugh. I didn’t at all think my email had come across this way!

OK, so let me make sure I have this straight. You have frizzy, out of control hair, you’re dusty, grimy and dirty and your feet and hands are swollen? “How to catch a guy” would not be the subtitle of this trip!”
